10 Standout Tops Under $100 — and How to Spot a Great Bargain Buy

I’m all for quality investment pieces, but there’s nothing better than finding a standout piece priced under $100! Usually when it comes to bargain buys there’s always something that has to be sacrificed— whether that’s quality, an “it-factor”, or a sense of originality. Thankfully with this bell-sleeved beauty, that’s definitely not the case! For starters, the subtle blue and white pattern is quintessential for spring. Often times too busy of patterns or “factory-type” colors give lower price points away. Sticking with this springtime hue or something more minimal leaves a bit of mystery to the price. The goal is not just finding a top under $100, but finding a steal that doesn’t look under $100!

Style doesn’t have to be sacrificed solely to stay on-budget. Instead of opting for the same unoriginal silhouette that could be found in any store, look for characteristics that make a piece pop. I already loved this springtime blue hue, but it’s the ruffled sleeves and tie detailing that sell this piece for me. When looking for lower priced pieces, I’ll take note from my fashion-forward favorites then try to find something comparable from retailers like Shopbop, AQUA or Zara. There are many contemporary designers that can’t be beat, but every now and then you’ll find something strikingly similar (or even better!) at only a fraction of the cost.

Texture is the biggest reason I’ll pass on a budget buy. The design may be on-point, the detailing and coloring all there, but the quality of the material is often times a dead giveaway. I usually shy away from ultra thin t-shirt cotton that is susceptible to holes and seek out crisper textures like polyester or a cotton blend. Blouses like this with more structure and elevation, not only fit and look better but are more comparable to pieces being produced by higher-end brands.

I’ve mentioned this before, by styling is the biggest trick. You don’t have to wear head to toe designer to look and feel your best. Stick to tried and true pieces that you know and love— for me that’s this white on white combo (remember it here?) of cropped flare jeans, white block heels, and a crisp stark bag. When it comes down to it, a trusty classic combo keeps everything simplistic and crisp, automatically enhancing any day to night look! Want the same style for a steal? Try these $85 white raw hemmed jeans from Top Shop, these chunky similar block heels ($58) and pull it all together with a clean bag like this circle style from Rebecca Minkoff, under $150!

Where are your go-to places to find great bargain buys? I’m linking this exact same top and 10 other standout pieces all worth your attention and under $100! Also, remember this fiery red top from this style post? Another great find currently on sale under $40 that goes just as great with this white on white combo!
