Come the holiday season there’s nothing more quintessentially appropriate than the color red. It’s always classic, strikingly vibrant, and holds its own with or without accessories. Even before the holidays hit I’ve been seeing this color make major appearances throughout the fashion world. Whether in retro block heels, sleek designer handbags or fiery red flares, I knew it was a shade that I could easily get on board with I just didn’t know exactly how I wanted to incorporate it into my wardrobe. Lately I’ve been eyeing lots of red sweaters, particularly around the holiday season, and several stunning gowns fit for Christmas soirees, but my newest red wardrobe addition was clear as soon as I came upon this smocked corduroy red dress.

For starters, I don’t think I’ve ever found anything quite so sleek that felt so effortlessly flattering. From the hemline to the cinched waist, and velvety texture of the corduroy fabric, there were too many spot on elements that I couldn’t resist falling in love with. As much as I love a great pair of denim and a chunky sweater, this is my daytime look of choice to a T— a chic effortless dress, Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots, and dainty cross body bag fit for the essentials. It’s a style to wear during holiday season but also beyond.

At this point in the game many holiday parties are quickly being checked off the list, but a look like this is perfect for the events that require a little bit more effort than your go-to winter sweater but aren’t quite fancy enough for a cocktail gown. I love that it’s very polished and put together but still very practical for real life occasions.

My Christmas calendar is jam packed until the end of the year but I’ll definitely be bringing this look out for Christmas dinner with my family and a few holiday get togethers with friends! If you’re looking to fill the void of a red in your wardrobe or still needing to nail down a last minute look for a gift exchange or Christmas dinner I’m linking this look and several of my favorite little red dresses below! Also if you’re like me and putting off some holiday shopping until the very last minute, don’t miss my latest gift guides under the “Holiday” tab!

Beautiful! I rarely wear red but I think a red dress looks amazing on a special occasion. I also love the fact that your dress has long sleeves. I love sleeveless or strapless ones but I get really cold!
