November 15, 2016 | San Francisco Ferry Plaza
Last weekend Brian and I headed up to San Francisco for a quick but eventful weekend before making our way to Napa. We had been to the bay area several times, but always try to experience something new and explore new areas of the city every time we visit.
Blue bottle easily takes the cake as our favorite coffee spot in the Bay. Knowing we wanted to start the day with an iced espresso and almond cappuccino, we set out for the Ferry Building as soon as our wheels touched down in Oakland. Surprisingly we had never experienced this part of San Fran before, but I was thankful our coffee craving lead us this part of the city. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays the Ferry Plaza hosts an elaborate farmer’s market, known for its quality and diversity of products. I only wished we were staying longer so I could have stocked up on fresh flowers and delicious produce, however we definitely got our food fix from the multiple boutiques and restaurants inside.
Before checking into the Fairmont for the evening we wandered over to a nearby pier to enjoy the embarcadero’s beautiful views. The weather in San Francisco was absolutely beautiful during the duration of our stay but still cool enough to layer on a thermal and bundle up in my favorite oversized poncho. For a destination full of hills and tons to explore, I made sure to pack my Stuart Weitzman 50/50 flat over the knee boots in preparation for lots of walking!
If you’re up in San Francisco definitely add a morning or afternoon at the Embarcadero and Ferry Building to your travel list. Whether you’re wanting to scope out the variety of products, fill up on food from the many delicious vendors, or just grab a good cup of coffee and enjoy the views there’s plenty to do and lots to eat over in this beautiful bayside area. I’ve also complied all on my favorites from trips over the years past in a complete San Francisco city guide that you can find here for a little guidance of where to stay, what to do and how to take on this beautiful California city.
