Craving a taste of fall and wanting to experience a bit of fall foliage, my mom and I set out on a mission to take a much needed mother daughter trip. After plenty of research from New England to Colorado, we finally settled on a trip to East Tennessee once we discovered Blackberry Farm. The 68 room Relais & Chateaux property is unlike any place I have traveled to or experienced thus far. Situated on 4,200 beautiful acres in the Smokey Mountains, just a 25 minute drive from Knoxville, TN, Blackberry Farm is home to adorable farm animals, countless outdoor activities, the most flavorful meals, and beautifully designed rooms and cottages, making it an ideal destination for a luxury rural retreat.
During the second half of our trip, we stayed in a shabby chic rustic cottage right off of the property’s garden. We’d wake up to the sound of the rooster, sip our morning coffee in our robes on the screened in porch, and watch the sun beams shine through the colorful trees before taking on the day. One thing I looked forward to every day during our stay was the farm fresh meals. Blackberry’s farm to table cuisine absolutely spoils you! Each meal was better than the last with farm fresh eggs for breakfast, leafy salads with greens directly from the garden for lunch, and daily specials dependent upon what was ripe and fresh for dinner.
One of my favorite parts of our stay was venturing over to the garden and picking fresh produce straight from the soil. Blackberry offers many activities for guests to experience the garden first hand through tasting tours and garden talks, however the most memorable part for me was visiting the garden on our own, talking with the friendly garden shed staff, and hand selecting the best carrots and crops to feed the animals of the farm.
Although I packed several fall inspired outfits, my mom and I both lived in Rails button down shirts during our stay. They’re just about the closest socially acceptable thing to wearing pajamas during the day and make great base layers for fall activities. Of course I packed plenty of denim and a few pairs of boots for a five day stay at the farm. For most of the days I relied on this medium wash pair to be worn with both brown and black tones as well as a reversible belt for wardrobe versatility. Fall isn’t complete without a classic pair of riding boots. This Ralph Lauren pair was made for fall in a beautiful rural setting however I also love these Sam Edelmon’s currently 10% off, these 33% off Tory Burch riding boots in brown and black, and this riding boot by Frye currently 33% off.
If you’re looking to take a beautiful trip off the beaten path, I highly recommend looking into a stay at Blackberry Farm. It truly is a one of a kind experience with the most wonderful staff and accommodations, guaranteed to refresh from this busy, busy world we live in! I’ll be sharing more from our trip to Tennessee in upcoming posts but until then you can find my look from the garden at Blackberry farm and similar fall inspired looks below!
