Today marks the first official day of Fall! While it’s technically not cool enough to whip out the peacoats or faux fur, it’s never too soon to get a head start on fall footwear.
Who What Wear is deeming the block-heeled ankle boot the shoe of the season. Wedge booties are apparently a thing of the past and this chunky, chic heel has made it’s way in. We’ve seen them in Vogue, of course on Gigi and Kendall, and now our favorite retailers are taking these beauties straight to the streets.
My pair of a choice? Classic leather, mid ankle rise, with just the right amount of point. If you’re able to splurge, Rag and Bone’s Agnes Bootie and Jenni Kayne Chelsea Boot are the ultimate investments.
Looking for a boot on a budget? Scoop up this zipper pair I wore to Fashion week from Zara, try this pointed-toe pair by Kendall + Kylie, or really get a bang for your buck with this classic Steve Madden pair. Taking a walk on the trendier side? A colored velvet boot or a hint of embroidery are just what you need to amp up your fall trend game.
A key element of the block heeled boot is that it can be styled with just about anything! For a crisp pre-fall day during New York fashion week, I styled my Zara pair with this button, tweed mini skirt. Paired with timeless investment pieces, budget-friendly styles can look just as classic and chic. When transitioning into fall, patterns and textures are key. Pair your black basics with an autumn hue skirt or seek out silhouettes in tweed or suede.
The outfits are endless once you have your basics, and thanks to the block heel boot we can all officially get on board for fall!
