Nothing brings more joy than the Holiday season! It’s crazy to me how the festivities begin well before Thanksgiving, but after sipping from Starbucks’ red cups and hearing some Holiday jingles on the radio, I’m not complaining!

To survive the cooler months, there are three essentials every girl should have: A basic black blouse, reliable everyday boots, and a cozy, throw on cardigan! I always resort back to these three pieces when I’m out running errands, meeting friends for brunch, or doing a little shopping. It’s also a great ensemble for Holiday gatherings— very comfortable yet still put together!

For a little coffee date at Joan’s on Third, (a must try if you’ve never been!) I wore this Alice + Olivia mock turtleneck. It’s currently my favorite basic blouse as it’s the perfect weight for crisp fall air, but is still comfortable to wear indoors. If you’re in need of a basic black blouse, have a look at this one, this one, and this one— all under $100!

These Aquatalia boots are my absolute favorites— I get compliments on them all the time! My first pair lasted me about 4+ years, until I received these last year for Christmas! My favorite feature is the elasticized panels. A lot of boots can fix quite loosely, but the material on these forms right to your calves, making them the perfect fit! I also love how they’re weather proof! Not that it’s extremely necessary in LA, but these got me through many rainy days in London and snowy visits to New York! I highly suggest this pair if you need a good everyday boot, but you can also try these, these, or these as well! If you’re wanting to splurge for the holidays, this Burberry pair would be a great classic investment.

IMG_6557As the wind picked up throughout the day, I slipped on a cozy black cardigan. While I do love this Ralph Lauren one that I wore and this James Perse one, this one, this one, this one, and this one will all do the trick, and they’re all under $200!

The piece that really makes this outfit complete is the skirt! Once you have your basics you can easily create many different looks by changing out the bottom base layer! Still on my plaid kick, I wore this A-line wool skirt from TopShop. It’s high waisted, which I love, and has comfy pockets to keep your hands warm in the winter!

This look can easily be recycled by changing the skirt out for a leather one, adding a faux fur vest, and slipping on some tights!

Don’t forget the power of good accessories! Around the Holidays I love a little sparkle! You can find this necklace at rocksbox.com and try a box for free with the code “erienickxoxo”! I also found a smilier one here for under $40!
